About the position

Olympia Food Industries is seeking a skilled and reliable Maintenance Technician to ensure the maintenance and upkeep of the facility grounds and buildings at our food manufacturing facility. The role focuses on building infrastructure and property maintenance, ensuring a safe, clean, and efficient working environment. The technician will perform various tasks including plumbing, electrical work, HVAC maintenance, and grounds maintenance, while adhering to safety regulations and sanitation standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine inspections of building structures including walls, floors, ceilings, doors, and windows.
  • Repair and maintain structural elements such as drywall, flooring, and roofing.
  • Handle minor carpentry tasks like installing shelves, repairing fixtures, and assembling furniture.
  • Inspect and repair plumbing systems to ensure proper functioning of sinks, toilets, and drainage systems.
  • Address leaks, clogs, and other minor plumbing issues promptly.
  • Replace worn or damaged pipes and fixtures as needed.
  • Replace or repair lighting fixtures, switches, and outlets.
  • Conduct basic troubleshooting of electrical issues within the facility.
  • Perform routine maintenance on heating, ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Replace filters and clean ducts to ensure optimal air quality.
  • Maintain the cleanliness and appearance of outdoor areas, including lawns, walkways, and parking lots.
  • Conduct regular inspections to identify potential safety hazards within the facility and grounds.
  • Assist in maintaining high sanitation standards critical for a food processing environment.
  • Manage inventory of maintenance supplies and equipment.
  • Work closely with the facility manager and other team members to prioritize maintenance tasks.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum of 2-3 years of experience in facility maintenance or as a handyman.
  • Proficient in basic carpentry, plumbing, electrical repairs, and HVAC maintenance.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret technical manuals and blueprints.
  • Good communication skills and the ability to work independently.
  • OSHA 10-Hour General Industry Certification.
  • EPA Section 608 Technician Certification (Type I).
  • Lockout/Tagout Training Certification.
  • Valid Driver's License.
