About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Gotham Greens plays a crucial role in ensuring the operational readiness of greenhouses and associated equipment. This position involves troubleshooting equipment failures, conducting preventative and corrective maintenance, and maintaining a clean and safe working environment in compliance with OSHA and Food Safety regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain & troubleshoot electrical/mechanical aspects of automated greenhouse equipment.
  • Repair conveyors, labelers, irrigation, fan systems, and associated critical infrastructure.
  • Repair or replace adjustable & wearable components (belts, chains, cables, hoses, bearings, pulleys).
  • Clean, lubricate, and calibrate equipment within specifications.
  • Troubleshoot PLC programs, components, and communications modules (Photo Eyes, Sensors, Limit Switches, Transducers).
  • Conduct Preventative Maintenance in accordance with Standard Operating Procedures.
  • Develop work plans with leadership & colleagues for emergency repair of critical assets.
  • Utilize MMS system to properly track labor hours, procedures, PM/CMs, and associated inventory.
  • Follow appropriate safety procedures while maintaining equipment, including LOTO, Arc Flash, and OSHA Standards.
  • Ensure a safe working environment by eliminating potential safety hazards.
  • Navigate ladders and catwalks safely while occasionally working at significant heights.
  • Work effectively in variable environmental conditions and temperatures.
  • Utilize hand tools and powered tools with precision and safety.
  • Use knowledge and experience to design and fabricate solutions to improve our facilities.

Requirements

  • Minimum 3-5 years of Facility or Manufacturing technical maintenance experience.
  • Strong technical background in HVAC, commercial electrical, plumbing, and pneumatic systems.
  • Ability to read and interpret schematics and blueprints.
  • Strong computer competency and willingness to leverage technology.
  • Strong knowledge of hand tools, powered tools, and commercial equipment.
  • Willingness to be a team player, while providing guidance, training, and support to junior team members.

Nice-to-haves

  • Graduate of Technical School or Engineering discipline.
  • Licenses or Certifications in HVAC, Electrical, Plumbing, Building Construction, OSHA.
  • Experience working with power distribution systems, lighting systems, transformers, and wiring up to 480V.
  • Experience troubleshooting and diagnosing Programmable Logic Controlled Systems.
  • Experience working in a greenhouse or food safety setting.
