The Maintenance Technician position is a critical role within a CNC machine shop, primarily focused on ensuring the operational efficiency of various machinery and facilities. The technician will be responsible for performing both preventative and reactive maintenance on a wide range of equipment, including plumbing and piping systems, HVAC units, CNC Mills (both horizontal and vertical), CNC Grinders, and various mechanical systems such as accumulators, air handlers, blowers, hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, compressors, generators, sensors, circuit boards, and modules. The role also involves working with both older equipment from the 1960s and newer models from 2015, requiring a versatile skill set to address the unique challenges presented by different technologies. In addition to routine maintenance tasks, the technician must be adept at reading blueprints and schematics, following Lockout/Tagout (LOTO) procedures, and installing and repairing 480v 3-phase electrical systems. Troubleshooting PLCs is a key responsibility, and while programming them is not mandatory, it is considered a valuable skill. The technician will also be expected to fabricate various parts and components as needed, utilizing techniques such as Stick, MIG, TIG welding, and manual machining. The role may occasionally require performing minor tasks such as hanging bulletin boards or plunging toilets, as well as assisting in the decommissioning of machinery to salvage parts during upgrades. The position operates on a 1st shift schedule from 7 am to 3:30 pm, with some overtime required for specific preventative maintenance tasks and additional overtime available for those interested. The work environment is fully on-site in Elkhart, Indiana, and while the facility is generally clean, there are areas with varying lighting conditions, with ongoing efforts to upgrade the lighting system to LED.
