About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Minerals Technologies Inc. (MTI) is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance duties to ensure the continuous safe operation of production facilities. This role requires expertise in mechanical and electrical maintenance, as well as multi-trade skills. The technician will work under limited supervision, collaborating with the Self Directed Work Team and Plant Manager to minimize production downtime and maximize efficiency. The position involves troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining various equipment and systems, while also participating in preventive maintenance programs and continuous improvement initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Prioritize maintenance tasks with the Self Directed Work Team and Plant Manager.
• Troubleshoot and repair blowers, pumps, seals, valves, piping systems, and other mechanical components.
• Perform preventive maintenance inspections and repairs based on findings.
• Maintain and initiate preventive maintenance programs.
• Calibrate and repair process instrumentation such as temperature/pressure transmitters and flow measuring devices.
• Supervise outside contract labor as needed.
• Maintain inventory of spare parts and manage purchase orders.
• Utilize Maintenance Management System to track maintenance activities.
• Implement recommendations for plant safety improvements.
• Participate in continuous improvement processes using lean techniques.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• Minimum 5 years of field experience in an industrial environment.
• Advanced mechanical and electrical skills are required.
• Experience in mechanical, electrical, and instrumentation maintenance is desired.
• Ability to function effectively in a self-directed team environment.
• Knowledge of computers and ability to learn and troubleshoot relevant software.

Nice-to-haves

• Lean (Operational Excellence) background is a plus.
• Ability to instruct and transfer job knowledge to others is preferred.
