About the position

The Maintenance Technician plays a crucial role in ensuring the smooth operation of hotel facilities by performing various repair and maintenance tasks. This position involves working on electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repairs, as well as maintaining hotel equipment and responding to maintenance requests from guests and staff. The technician is expected to contribute to a positive work environment while delivering exceptional service to enhance guest experiences.

Responsibilities

  • Perform minor glass, window and mirror repairs.
  • Conduct minor electrical repairs such as lamps and small appliances.
  • Execute minor carpentry repairs including door/window moldings and furniture.
  • Carry out minor door and lock repairs, including hinge replacements and lock maintenance.
  • Maintain, paint, and repair hotel walls, including patching and wallpapering.
  • Repair and maintain all floors and floor coverings such as carpets and tiles.
  • Perform minor plumbing repairs like leaking faucets and valves.
  • Conduct minor repairs to the boiler, including preventative maintenance and cleaning filters.
  • Maintain and repair hotel equipment such as vacuums and floor polishers.
  • Maintain and repair laundry equipment, ensuring preventative maintenance is performed.
  • Perform minor repairs to HVAC systems, including switches and thermostats.
  • Maintain a supply of parts and repair tools.
  • Respond to maintenance requests from hotel guests and spa staff.
  • Use proper safety measures when operating equipment according to OSHA regulations.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • Two years prior experience in maintenance/engineering specific to electrical, plumbing, and carpentry repair.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in English with guests and co-workers.
  • Ability to perform assigned duties with attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Punctuality and reliable attendance.
  • Interpersonal skills to work well with co-workers and the public.
  • Knowledge of proper equipment usage and repair.

Nice-to-haves

  • Prior guest relations training.
  • Ability to work various shifts including weekdays, weekends, and holidays.
