About the position

The Maintenance Technician at Sunshine House will be responsible for performing a variety of non-licensed mechanical, electrical, plumbing, carpentry, and general building maintenance and repair tasks across preschools in the Lowcountry. This role is essential for ensuring the facilities are well-maintained and safe for children and staff, contributing to the overall mission of the Sunshine House Early Learning Academy.

Responsibilities

• Perform minor repairs and services in all maintenance-related disciplines, including carpentry, mechanics, plumbing, minor electrical, finish work, painting, HVAC, etc.
• Prioritize work orders, handle urgent requests, respond to calls as required, and complete any assigned preventative maintenance work and procedures under the direction of a supervisor.
• Ensure all building and maintenance policies, procedures, codes, regulations, etc., are followed and enforced, including safety systems and standards.
• Handle occasional non-technical repairs of the facility, such as hanging pictures, desk repairs, and ceiling repairs.
• Participate in periodic overnight travel (one week every other month) as required.

Requirements

• Associate's degree in HVAC or equivalent from a two-year college or technical school; or equivalent related training; or equivalent combination of education and experience necessary.
• At least 2 to 3 years of mechanical experience preferably in a commercial or industrial facility with an emphasis in facility maintenance plus experience with electrical, building equipment and building repairs.
• Written and verbal communication skills.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office and Outlook.
• Ability to multi-task, prioritize, and be detail-oriented.
• Ability to work independently and be resourceful.
• Customer service skills.
• Flexible and adaptable.
• Must pass a criminal background check and have a clean driving record.
