About the position

As a Maintenance Technician at C&W Services, you will be an integral part of a self-directed, team-based environment focused on the installation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical and electrical equipment. Your role will encompass a variety of tasks, including the operation of machinery, troubleshooting, and performing preventative maintenance on equipment such as vehicle hoists, air compressors, pumps, and HVAC systems. You will be expected to comply with all internal and external Environmental, HazMat, and Safety requirements, ensuring that all operations meet established standards and protocols. Your responsibilities will include starting up, regulating, repairing, and shutting down equipment while ensuring that it operates safely and economically. You will monitor attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls to maintain optimal performance. A working knowledge of PLCs and motor controls is advantageous, as you will be required to manually control equipment and make necessary adjustments. You will utilize hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance, which may range from complete overhauls to replacing defective components such as valves, gaskets, or bearings. In addition to routine preventive maintenance, you will be responsible for detecting potential mechanical problems by observing and listening to machinery. Your role will also involve checking safety devices, performing routine maintenance on pumps and motors, lubricating moving parts, and ensuring that all facility components, including HVAC systems, are maintained in a cost-effective manner. You will develop strong customer service relationships with clients, employees, and managers, addressing any facilities-related problems that arise. You will be expected to maintain on-call status for immediate action regarding critical systems failures and report all equipment failures or contractor requirements to the Facility Manager. Your ability to communicate effectively and work with minimal supervision will be essential in this role, as will your commitment to safety and compliance with all relevant laws and regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Start up, regulate, repair and shut down equipment.
  • Ensure that equipment operates safely and economically by monitoring attached meters, gauges, and computerized controls.
  • Manually control equipment and make necessary adjustments.
  • Use hand and power tools to perform repairs and maintenance ranging from complete overhauls to replacing defective valves, gaskets, or bearings.
  • Record relevant events and facts concerning operation and maintenance in an equipment log.
  • Perform routine Preventive Maintenance on all equipment and identify potential problems.
  • Detect potential mechanical problems by observing and listening to machinery.
  • Routinely check safety devices and correct any issues that develop.
  • Perform routine maintenance, such as repairing and replacing pumps, motors, and other operating equipment.
  • Lubricate moving parts, replace filters, and remove soot and corrosion to maintain efficiency.
  • Operate, maintain, and repair mechanical and electrical systems in a building, including compressors and vacuum pumps.
  • Maintain all facility components and equipment in an efficient and cost-effective manner.
  • Develop strong customer service-oriented relationships with clients, employees, and managers.
  • Solve client facilities-related problems and conduct day-to-day activities for safety and comfort.
  • Report all equipment failures or contractor requirements to the Facility Manager.
  • Execute preventive maintenance programs to protect facility components and ensure cost-effective operation.
  • Maintain on-call status for immediate action on critical systems failures.
  • Follow updates for equipment maintenance improvement and compliance with laws and regulations.
  • Report all potential liability situations to the Facility Manager.
  • Maintain client or company-owned vehicles, equipment, and tools in safe condition.
  • Exhibit good personal grooming and practice client security regulations.
  • Provide project supervision of subcontractors and assist in recording project status reports.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or approved GED.
  • Minimum 5 years full-time experience as a Journeyman Maintenance Mechanic/Facilities Technician.
  • Must be 18 years of age or older.
  • Valid Driver's License and ability to drive both manual and automatic transmission vehicles.
  • Ability to work in inclement weather.

Nice-to-haves

  • Working knowledge of PLCs and Motor Controls.
  • Basic woodworking skills.
  • Plumbing and pipe fitting experience with power threader.
  • Experience operating boom lift and forklift equipment.
  • Knowledge of motor control systems and electrical equipment.
  • Experience with arc and acetylene welding and fabrication of equipment and parts.
