About the position

The Maintenance Technician will work collaboratively with shift supervisors at the Battle Creek plant and nearby distribution center to ensure the operational efficiency of all equipment. This role offers a chance to establish a career in a stable company with over 75 years of history, producing high-quality products. The technician will be responsible for performing mechanical and electrical maintenance tasks, troubleshooting equipment, and ensuring safety protocols are followed.

Responsibilities

  • Perform mechanical work including valve replacement, conveyor bearing and chain replacement, and motor/gearbox replacement.
  • Read and comprehend electrical schematics to install, troubleshoot, conduct preventative maintenance, and perform repairs to facilities and production equipment up to 480 Volts, 3-Phase.
  • Troubleshoot and re-wire high-speed equipment such as AC/DC motors, VFDs, PLCs, and servo motors.
  • Work with electrical control systems, safety circuits, and automation components like inductive proximity sensors and photo eye sensors.
  • Work off shifts and overtime as necessary.
  • Work independently or as part of a team to repair and maintain equipment in a fast-paced environment during production.
  • Practice safe working habits and follow directions with minimal supervision.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 3 years' experience in an industrial maintenance related field.
  • Strong knowledge of hydraulics, pneumatics, belt systems, motors, pumps, and other industrial machine components.
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Knowledge of safety policies and procedures (e.g., lock out/tag out, high voltage electrical).
  • Working knowledge of and ability to use hand and power tools.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with boiler systems and ammonia refrigeration.
  • Experience in the food industry.
