About The Position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing mechanical repairs and preventative maintenance. This position requires acknowledging and completing work orders and daily tasks in a timely manner, inspecting assigned buildings on a routine basis, and sanitizing and disinfecting high-traffic areas throughout the day. The technician will perform electrical maintenance, plumbing maintenance, building and masonry repairs, carpentry and painting work, and other duties as directed or required. The role also involves responding to emergency calls, maintaining work logs, escorting vendors, and participating in department meetings and college functions.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED.
  • 2-3 years of relevant building maintenance experience.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of and experience in repair, maintenance, and replacement in carpentry, painting, plumbing, HVAC, electrical, and basic locksmith knowledge.
  • Willingness to cross-train for additional job functions and to take training to obtain necessary certificates.
  • Excellent communication and organizational skills.
  • Entry-level computer skills (Word, Excel, Email Work Order System).
  • Ability to use smartphone devices.

Responsibilities

  • Acknowledge and complete work orders and daily tasks in a timely manner.
  • Inspect assigned buildings on a routine basis.
  • Sanitize and disinfect high-traffic areas throughout the day.
  • Perform electrical maintenance including replacement or repair of fixtures.
  • Perform plumbing maintenance including replacement or repair of leaks.
  • Perform building and/or masonry repairs.
  • Perform carpentry and painting work.
  • Perform other duties as directed or required.
  • Participate in the winterization of buildings.
  • Respond to emergency calls and shift coverage as needed.
  • Maintain work logs via Work Order management system.
  • Escort vendors and/or city agencies upon request.
  • Participate and attend department meetings, college functions, and events as requested.
