About the position

The Maintenance Technician is responsible for performing maintenance work involving multiple skills to ensure the proper functioning of machines and equipment in a manufacturing environment. This role includes diagnosing and troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues, conducting preventive maintenance, and supporting safety protocols. The technician will work within ITW's Zip-Pak division, which specializes in resealable solutions for the flexible packaging industry.

Responsibilities

• Support the implementation of safety protocols and ensure compliance with all safety regulations.
• Conduct routine preventive maintenance and inspection on manufacturing equipment to ensure optimal performance and prevent breakdowns.
• Diagnose and troubleshoot mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic issues with extrusion molding machinery.
• Read electrical, mechanical, and pneumatic schematics to perform repairs and replacements of faulty components.
• Assist in the installation and commissioning of new equipment.
• Participate in continuous improvement initiatives to enhance equipment reliability and efficiency.
• Document work requests, work orders, and machinery failures using a computer maintenance management system (CMMS).
• Utilize electrical measuring instruments to solve electrical issues.
• Maintain chiller systems, plant air supply systems, and resin delivery systems.
• Record and maintain spare part usage.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Technical or vocational training in maintenance-related fields is preferred.
• Proven experience as a Maintenance Technician in a manufacturing or industrial setting.
• Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and pneumatic systems.
• Proficient in reading technical manuals, schematics, and diagrams.
• Experience with PLCs and other manufacturing control systems is an advantage.
• Excellent time management and organizational skills to prioritize tasks efficiently.
• Possess problem-solving skills and the ability to work well under pressure.
• 5 years of industrial manufacturing experience.

Nice-to-haves

• Knowledge of extrusion molding machines and their functions is preferred.
• Experience in troubleshooting and repairing mechanical and electrical systems.
