About the position

The Maintenance Worker, OPS position is a part-time role within the Custodial department, responsible for performing entry-level labor-intensive tasks related to maintenance, custodial services, and groundskeeping. The worker will operate under general supervision, executing various maintenance duties, including building maintenance, equipment repair, and irrigation system management. This role requires a basic understanding of maintenance tools and equipment, as well as the ability to work both independently and as part of a team.

Responsibilities

• Perform a variety of maintenance duties according to the area of assignment, including custodial maintenance and building maintenance.
• Repair equipment and maintain athletic fields and courts.
• Install and repair components of irrigation systems.
• Address safety hazards and maintain or repair roads and sidewalks.
• Maintain surface water infrastructure and various building structures related to the area of assignment.
• Operate light to medium equipment such as mowers, edgers, and chainsaws.
• Load and unload materials from distribution vehicles and relocate equipment for special activities.
• Maintain work records regarding observations and solutions, including malfunctioning equipment and materials used.
• Refer to documentation for instruction and troubleshooting systems.
• Ensure adherence to safety and accident prevention standards.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• One year or more experience in using hand tools and maintenance equipment or in the installation and repair of irrigation systems.
• Valid State of Florida Driver's License and ability to drive Village-owned vehicles.

Nice-to-haves

• FEMA Certifications (or ability to obtain within 12 months of employment).
