The Maintenance Worker position at MoDOT involves performing essential maintenance duties for the preservation and operation of the state highway system. Responsibilities
- Maintain state highway systems by filling roadway joints and cracks, patching potholes, and directing traffic.
- Set up traffic control devices such as signs, cones, and arrow boards.
- Load, unload, spread, and haul materials and supplies; cut and clear brush; and remove trash and debris from roadsides.
- Clean and clear ditches and maintain state highway facilities, including repairing road signs and guardrails.
- Operate vehicles to transport employees, equipment, and materials, and to warn oncoming traffic.
- Mow right of way using tractor mowers and hand tools; operate augers, trenchers, backhoes, forklifts, and various trucks.
- Repair bridge decks and drains, and clean bridge bents/caps at heights using ladders or scaffolding.
- Install and inspect signs, including structural and large signs, and repair and maintain breakaway and overlay signs.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED/HiSET.
- Valid Driver's License.
- Passing grade on the written portion of the commercial driver's license (CDL) exam prior to hire date.
- Must pass the driving portion of the CDL exam with tanker endorsement within 60 days of hire.
- Successful completion of a medical-physical examination including drug test and work simulation examination.
- Successful completion of a national background check.
