About the position

The Maintenance Worker for Streets & Drainage at the City of West Melbourne is responsible for performing unskilled labor tasks under the supervision of the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor. This role involves various maintenance activities related to streets and drainage, including excavation, asphalt work, and equipment operation. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, and may involve unscheduled overtime.

Responsibilities

• Perform digging excavations and asphalt work.
• Clean culvert pipes and maintain street signs and guardrails.
• Move materials, mow, and trim trees as needed.
• Operate and maintain equipment used in job functions.
• Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent education.
• Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
• Ability to use simple hand and power tools.
• Knowledge of maintenance and repair work.
• Effective communication skills, both verbal and written.
