About the position
The Maintenance Worker for Streets & Drainage is responsible for performing unskilled labor tasks under the supervision of the Crew Leader and/or Supervisor. This role involves various maintenance and repair activities related to public works, including excavation, asphalt work, and equipment operation. The position requires flexibility in working hours, including evenings and weekends, and may involve unscheduled overtime.
Responsibilities
- Perform digging excavations and asphalt work.
- Clean culvert pipes and maintain street signs and guardrails.
- Move materials and perform mowing and tree trimming activities.
- Operate and maintain equipment used in job functions.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent education.
- Valid Florida Driver's License with an acceptable driving record.
- Knowledge of maintenance and repair work.
- Skill in effective communication both verbally and in writing.
- Ability to use simple hand and power tools.
- Ability to traverse all types of terrain and work outdoors in various weather conditions.
