About the position

The Maintenance Worker at Ambridge Area School District is responsible for diagnosing, designing, coordinating, and executing maintenance procedures on various equipment, buildings, grounds, and vehicles. This role requires expertise in multiple areas including electrical, plumbing, carpentry, HVAC, and grounds maintenance. The worker will assist in training other maintenance employees and will respond to work order requests while ensuring compliance with safety and regulatory standards.

Responsibilities

  • Diagnose and repair electrical systems including low, line, and high voltage equipment.
  • Install and maintain plumbing systems and fixtures, including complex repairs for liquid gas and backflow preventers.
  • Perform carpentry work including repairs and installations of doors, locks, and flooring systems.
  • Conduct HVAC maintenance and repairs on cooling, heating, and ventilation systems.
  • Manage grounds maintenance including irrigation systems, roofing, and landscaping tasks.
  • Assist in the training of new maintenance employees and prepare job assignments.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED required; additional education preferred.
  • Minimum of five years of experience in a related field or equivalent master status.
  • Journeyman status in relevant trades (Electrical, Plumbing, HVAC, Carpentry) required.
  • Ability to read and interpret maintenance manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Microsoft Excel and other computer software.
  • Knowledge of ASHRAE, ASME, and National Electrical codes.
  • Ability to communicate effectively in both oral and written forms.
