About the position

The Maintenance Worker position at the Wilkinson County Correctional Facility in Woodville, MS, is a full-time role that involves a variety of repair and maintenance tasks essential for the upkeep of the facility. The worker will be responsible for ensuring that all structures, electrical systems, plumbing, and HVAC systems are maintained in compliance with the standards set by the American Correctional Association (ACA), Management & Training Corporation (MTC), and the Mississippi Department of Corrections (MDOC). This role is critical in maintaining a safe and functional environment for both staff and inmates. The Maintenance Worker will perform a range of essential functions including repairing or replacing faulty light fixtures, outlets, and fuses, as well as conducting minor construction and structural woodwork repairs. The position also requires the installation of window shades, security locks, and the repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures. Additionally, the worker will assist in preparing surfaces for finishing tasks such as painting and will be responsible for directing inmates assigned to facility maintenance tasks. Preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment are also a key responsibility, ensuring that all systems are functioning properly and efficiently. Responsibilities

  • Perform repairs and maintenance of structures, electrical systems, plumbing, washers and dryers, heating and ventilation, and air conditioning systems.
  • Repair or replace faulty or damaged light fixtures, outlets, and fuses as directed.
  • Perform minor construction and repair or structural woodwork.
  • Install window shades or coverings, security locks, etc.
  • Perform repair or replacement of plumbing fixtures, washers, seals, etc.
  • Help prepare surfaces for finishing, including painting, as directed.
  • Direct inmates assigned to facility maintenance.
  • Perform preventive maintenance checks of buildings and equipment.
  • Perform other duties as assigned within capabilities as determined by management.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Technical training and general knowledge of repair and maintenance required.
  • Three (3) years of related experience required.
  • Valid driver's license in the state of Mississippi or Louisiana with an acceptable driving record required, unless waived by management.
  • Must successfully complete annual in-service training requirements.
