About the position

We are seeking a skilled Maintenance Worker to join our team in Phenix City, AL. The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing various upkeep tasks, including repairs and cleaning, to ensure that our facilities are tidy and functional. This role requires a reliable individual with a keen eye for detail, as you will be applying basic fixes to equipment and building systems. The Maintenance Worker will be expected to possess solid technical knowledge and experience in the field, along with manual dexterity and physical stamina to handle the demands of the job. In this position, you will perform a variety of cleaning activities such as dusting and mopping, as well as minor repairs like fixing broken locks and filling gaps on walls. You will also be responsible for checking control panels and electrical wiring to identify any issues, installing appliances and equipment, and conducting garden and yard upkeep, which includes mowing the lawn and collecting trash. Additionally, you will conduct maintenance tasks such as replacing light bulbs and inspecting equipment and systems, including ventilation and safety systems like fire alarms. Collaboration with other workers and professionals during renovations is also a key aspect of this role. You will report to a facilities or maintenance manager regarding any issues that arise, ensuring that all maintenance tasks are completed efficiently and effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Perform cleaning activities such as dusting, mopping, etc.
  • Perform minor fixes such as repairing broken locks and filling gaps on walls.
  • Check control panels and electrical wiring to identify issues.
  • Install appliances and equipment.
  • Conduct garden/yard upkeep by mowing lawn and collecting trash.

  • Check functionality of safety systems (e.g., fire alarm).
  • Collaborate with workers and other professionals during renovations.
  • Report to a facilities or maintenance manager for issues.

Requirements

  • Proven experience as assistant director or other similar position.
  • Basic knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems.
  • Experience using hand and electrical tools.
  • Ability to read technical manuals and drawings.
  • Very good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Physical stamina and dexterity.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Successful completion of an apprenticeship is required.
