About the position

The position is within the Operations department and is classified as full-time, non-exempt. The role reports to the AVP of Operations and involves performing general maintenance, preventive maintenance, and repair of campus facilities as directed. The work schedule is from 7am to 3:30pm, with some evenings and weekends required. There are no positions supervised by this role.

Responsibilities

• Perform all preventative maintenance checks in dorms, classrooms and all campus areas
• Perform preventative maintenance and recurrent inspections of life safety equipment including smoke detectors, exit signs, fire extinguishers, emergency exit lights, and alarm panels
• Conduct routine daily checks on hot water and steam boilers and air conditioning systems. Change HVAC filters.
• Change light bulbs and ballasts throughout campus as needed
• Provide General Maintenance repairs such as electrical, plumbing, window and door/lock repairs, drywall repair, painting; and general maintenance tasks as requested by faculty and staff
• Communicate effectively and courteously with other workers, staff, faculty, and students
• Must be able to work with minimal supervision to stay on task and perform maintenance
• Other duties as assigned

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED
• Two to three years experience in general maintenance
• Must maintain a current valid driver's license
• Ability to perform work accurately and thoroughly
• Ability to communicate effectively with others as well as working with technical documents and procedures
• Ability to find a solution for or to deal proactively with work related problems
• Ability to comprehend complex technical topics and specialized information
