About the position
The Maintenance Worker position is responsible for performing a variety of maintenance tasks to ensure the proper functioning and safety of school facilities. This role requires a high school diploma or GED, a valid New Mexico driver's license, and at least three years of maintenance experience. The worker will engage in preventive maintenance, repairs, and upkeep of school buildings and grounds, while adhering to safety regulations and district policies. The position emphasizes cooperation with colleagues and supervisors, maintaining professionalism, and ensuring a safe learning environment for students.
Responsibilities
- Works cooperatively with colleagues, supervisors, and administrators.
- Demonstrates ethical behavior and follows district policies and administrative rules.
- Maintains a suitable personal appearance as it relates to the position.
- Carries out assignments and instructions from the supervisor in a competent and efficient manner.
- Performs preventive maintenance on equipment and maintains a clean and safe shop environment.
- Maintains and cares for school buildings and grounds, performing maintenance repairs and projects for all buildings.
- Repairs plumbing fixtures, ensures all plumbing is working properly, and maintains bathroom stalls.
- Repairs broken tiles, cracks in sidewalks, and changes light bulbs as needed.
- Conducts monthly fire extinguisher checks and ensures emergency exit signs work properly.
- Operates maintenance equipment safely and effectively, and performs other job duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School diploma or GED
- Valid New Mexico driver's license appropriate for operating vehicles
- 3 years maintenance experience
- Experience with gasoline and diesel powered equipment
- Knowledge of preventive maintenance programs and health and safety regulations
- Good organizational ability and communication skills
