About the position

The Maintenance Worker position at the Drop-In Center for single homeless adults involves performing various maintenance tasks to ensure the facility is clean, safe, and operational. The role includes cleaning, minor repairs, and assisting with the upkeep of the building according to established procedures and schedules.

Responsibilities

• Cleans rooms, hallways, restrooms, offices, and stairways according to agency policy.
• Assists with minor painting, carpentry, electrical, mechanical, and plumbing repairs.
• Collects and empties garbage bins on scheduled days.
• Replenishes restroom supplies.
• Sets up and breaks down chairs, tables, and equipment in day rooms, meeting rooms, and event rooms.
• Clears snow from entrances and walkways.
• Picks up and delivers supplies and materials to rooms.
• Follows all applicable safety rules and procedures.
• Reports work accomplished orally or on written work order to supervisor.
• Uses hand tools and power tools for minor maintenance repairs and maintaining grounds.
• Checks the building at the beginning and end of shifts.
• Follows and completes daily work charts as instituted by the facility manager.

Requirements

• High School Diploma required.
• At least one year of maintenance experience.
• Experience providing services to the homeless and low-income population.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• Work management and prioritizing skills.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving ability and attention to detail.
• Ability to work as part of a team.
• Valid ID, SS Card, or Work Permit required.

Nice-to-haves

• Bilingual in Spanish preferred.
