About the position

At Bank of America, the Major Event Security Manager is responsible for overseeing the security and safety of all attendees at bank-sponsored or hosted events. This role involves managing a regional team or programs related to physical security, life safety, threat management, technical security, and intelligence analysis. The Major Event Security Manager ensures the consistent application of professional best practices in administering these programs, planning and organizing resources to achieve the group's goals and objectives. This position requires close collaboration with various lines of business to ensure roles and responsibilities are clearly understood and that any issues or concerns are escalated appropriately. The Major Event Security Manager will develop and implement comprehensive security plans for each event, including risk assessments, security staffing requirements, and emergency response strategies. This role also involves selecting, training, and supervising security personnel, ensuring that all security professionals are fully briefed on their responsibilities and the specifics of each event. The manager will coordinate with local law enforcement, emergency services, and private security firms to ensure a coordinated approach to event security, while also ensuring compliance with legal and regulatory requirements. In addition to managing security planning and team management, the Major Event Security Manager serves as the primary contact for all security-related incidents, leading the resolution of issues with minimal disruption to the event. This position requires the ability to analyze and identify potential threats through extensive monitoring and analysis of multiple platforms, as well as the capability to respond to medical situations and manage ongoing incidents during events. The Major Event Security Manager must be available 24/7 to support the team during crisis or security-related events, demonstrating strong analytical thinking, problem-solving skills, and superior communication abilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement comprehensive security plans for each event, including risk assessments, security staffing requirements, and emergency response strategies.
  • Select, train, and supervise security personnel, ensuring all security professionals are fully briefed on their responsibilities and the specifics of each event.
  • Work closely with local law enforcement, emergency services, and private security firms to ensure a coordinated approach to event security.
  • Ensure all security activities comply with legal and regulatory requirements and stay updated with the latest in security technology and procedures.
  • Serve as the primary contact for all security-related incidents, leading the resolution with minimal disruption to the event.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 5 years' experience in a security management role.
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal and written) and ability to interact with internal customers/leadership and external partners.
  • Proven experience in managing teams and coordinating with private security and law enforcement agencies.
  • Critical thinking under pressure and demonstrated ability to be self-motivated/self-starter.
  • Ability to influence decisions on appropriate security resources and interact closely with internal and external stakeholders.

Nice-to-haves

  • AED/CPR/First Responder Certified (must obtain within 6 months of hiring).
  • CPP, PSP, or similar certification.
  • Law Enforcement / Intelligence / Military / Event Security Background.
