About the position

The Major Gifts Officer at Northern Virginia Community College (NOVA) plays a crucial role in the NOVA Educational Foundation by developing and implementing strategic fundraising initiatives. This position focuses on cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gifts from individual and corporate donors to support the college's fundraising priorities and programmatic initiatives. The officer will manage a portfolio of over 100 donors, ensuring effective communication and relationship-building to enhance donor engagement and support for the college's mission.

Responsibilities

• Cultivate, solicit, and steward major gifts prospects including corporate and foundation leaders, key alumni, and friends of the College.
• Develop and implement innovative fundraising strategies to expand funding for the College's key strategic priorities.
• Manage a portfolio of 100+ individual and corporate donors with giving capacities of $25,000+ and cultivate new relationships with key stakeholders.
• Monitor progress toward fundraising goals and movement of prospects through identification, cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
• Establish and/or expand corporate and foundation partnerships.
• Plan and coordinate stewardship events recognizing donors.
• Maintain and provide regular/accurate reports of annual, leadership, and major gift activities.
• Stay informed about NOVA's programs, strategic priorities, and its administrative and financial organization.

Requirements

• Experience in fundraising preferably in higher education or non-profit administration, sales, or comparable experience.
• Project management experience.
• Experience working on projects.
• Experience in the use of digital and social media to enhance messaging, build connection and create donor affinity for institutional goals and priorities.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience in advancement, data management, stewardship programs and constituent research programs.
• Experience in Microsoft Office.
• Experience with Donor Perfect or similar donor management software.
