About the position

The Major Gifts Officer at Housing Hope is responsible for driving philanthropic revenue growth by cultivating and managing relationships with major donors, corporate partners, and planned giving supporters. This role involves strategic donor engagement, managing a portfolio of 130 high-capacity donors, and leading key initiatives to secure significant gifts for the organization. The position supports Housing Hope's mission and ensures sustainable funding through effective communication and stewardship of donor relationships.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and manage the Major Gifts Program in collaboration with the Senior Director of Resource Development, Marketing, and Communications.
  • Research and identify major gift prospects and donors for cultivation, solicitation, and stewardship.
  • Create individual goals for each donor based on their history and potential.
  • Design and execute communication plans to deepen donor relationships with Housing Hope.
  • Collaborate with the Marketing and Grants team to create compelling donor proposals and marketing materials.
  • Generate reports reflecting caseload activity and performance metrics.
  • Invite donors to make planned and estate gifts based on their giving history and potential.
  • Work with the Marketing Manager to develop materials for the Planned Giving program.
  • Provide educational opportunities regarding legacy giving to prospects and relevant professionals.
  • Steward existing Society of Hope members with updates and annual meetings.
  • Assist in securing sponsorships and donors for fundraising events.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years of experience in non-profit fundraising with knowledge of best practices.
  • Experience interacting with individual donors and fundraising volunteers.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
  • Proficiency in MS Office and experience with fundraising databases.
  • Ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work under pressure.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in creating appeal letters and fundraising materials.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends.
