About the position

The Lab Assistant position is a part-time role focused on specimen collection and data entry in a high-volume, fast-paced office environment. The primary responsibilities include collecting urine and oral fluid specimens for drug testing, ensuring accurate documentation, and maintaining confidentiality. The ideal candidate will have strong communication skills and a commitment to quality and safety standards.

Responsibilities

  • Collect urine and oral fluid specimens from patients according to protocols.
  • Ensure accurate labeling and documentation of specimens.
  • Greet patients professionally and provide clear instructions about the collection process.
  • Complete necessary paperwork accurately, including consent forms and collection logs.
  • Perform initial quality checks on collected specimens and report discrepancies.
  • Coordinate with the laboratory team for timely processing of specimens.
  • Comply with regulations and maintain confidentiality of client information.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent; additional certification in a related field is a plus.
  • Previous experience in a lab or medical setting, particularly in specimen collection, is preferred.
  • Strong attention to detail and organizational skills.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-volume environment.
  • Proficiency in using basic computer software and data entry systems.
