About the position

The Mammographer PRN position involves providing direct patient care through various mammography procedures, including screening and diagnostic mammograms, breast stereotactic biopsies, and needle localizations. The role requires maintaining compliance with all relevant regulations and ensuring proficiency in necessary software programs while assisting clerical and nursing staff within the breast imaging practice.

Responsibilities

  • Acts as a mentor and trainer to new employees and assists clerical and nursing staff as needed.
  • Assists with contacting and following up with patients, tracking critical information for performance improvement, and ensuring the reporting radiologist has all necessary information.
  • Provides patient education regarding all breast center exams and procedures.
  • Demonstrates ability to provide care/service safely and efficiently for each patient.
  • Knowledgeable in and capable of performing mandatory MQSA/FDA and ACR regulations and requirements.
  • Maintains up-to-date licensing and credentialing, including CPR.
  • Completes mandatory educational assignments as provided by supervisor or senior supervisor.
  • Maintains a clean and safe work environment, ensuring proper hand washing and sterile techniques when applicable.
  • May assist other medical staff with patient support.
  • Performs all aspects of direct patient care while conducting breast imaging exams/procedures.
  • Prepares reports, correspondence, and departmental materials using various office equipment and software programs.
  • Uses breast imaging equipment according to manufacturer's guidelines.
  • Performs the professional, clinical, and technical competencies of the assigned unit or department.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate
  • Licensed Radiologic Technologist (LRT) - Kansas Board of Healing Arts (KSBHA)
  • Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS or BCLS) - American Heart Association (AHA)
  • Radiography (R) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Mammography (M) - American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT)
  • Image Wisley Pledge - American College of Radiology (ACR) volume competencies

  • 1 or more years of experience in Mammography
