About the position

The Mammographer at Beaufort Memorial Hospital is responsible for performing routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures in accordance with ACR and MQSA standards. This role involves participating in invasive breast biopsies and managing complete patient throughput, including scheduling, film management, and communication with patients and healthcare staff. The Mammographer will also engage in quality improvement activities and ensure compliance with corporate initiatives, all while maintaining high professional and ethical standards.

Responsibilities

  • Perform routine screening and diagnostic mammography procedures consistent with ACR and MQSA standards.
  • Participate in invasive breast biopsies.
  • Manage complete patient throughput including scheduling, film/file management, and documentation.
  • Maintain supply inventory and general housekeeping.
  • Transport patients and communicate with family, physicians, and ancillary staff.
  • Engage in department Quality Improvement activities and equipment quality control plans.
  • Adhere to Corporate Compliance initiatives, including proper coding and performance of Medical Necessity Checks.
  • Work under the direct supervision of the Mammography Supervisor and independently as required.
  • Assume responsibility for call and holiday coverage as needed.

Requirements

  • High School Graduate or equivalent (GED) preferred.
  • Two-year Associate Degree in Radiologic Technology or graduate of an AMA approved or JRCERT accredited Radiologic Technology Program.
  • ARRT registry required.
  • Advanced mammography registry required.
  • 0-6 months of mammography and biopsy experience.
  • Participation in ACR & MQSA inspections.
  • Experience with ongoing Quality Control.
  • Meets minimum volume requirements of ACR/MQSA.
  • SCRQSA Certification in Radiography required.
  • ARRT (M) certification required.
  • BLS certification required prior to first clinical shift.
