About the position

The Mammography Technologist at Orlando Health Ambulatory is responsible for providing high-quality patient care while performing mammography imaging services and related procedures. This role involves applying x-ray energy to accurately demonstrate breast anatomy for interpretation and/or intervention, all while adhering to strict radiation safety principles. The position is located at 5151 Winter Garden Vineland Rd Suite 104, Windermere, FL 34786, and requires a commitment to maintaining the highest standards of patient care and safety. In this role, the technologist exercises professional judgment in the performance of services, ensuring that their demeanor is conducive to quality care. Compliance with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements is essential, as is the ability to assess the patient's physical condition and age-specific needs. The technologist provides clear instructions to patients to achieve cooperation and desired imaging results, while also ensuring proper patient identification and accurate documentation of clinical history. The Mammography Technologist is responsible for positioning patients and equipment, manipulating technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation. They must assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines. The role also involves applying principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others, and utilizing the Radiology Information System for accurate exam tracking and reporting. Additionally, the technologist must maintain compliance with Quality Control standards, participate in Quality Control tasks, and apply appropriate standard precautions to prevent cross-contamination. The position requires effective use of Corporate Radiology computer systems and a commitment to ensuring the safety of all customers. Regular attendance and adherence to Orlando Health policies, as well as maintaining a clean and organized work area, are also critical components of this role.

Responsibilities

  • Exercises professional judgment in performance of services and maintains a demeanor complimentary to quality care.
  • Complies with FDA and MQSA regulatory requirements.
  • Adds to Orlando Health mission statements and strategic imperatives.
  • Assesses the patient's physical condition and age-specific needs.
  • Provides instructions that achieve patient cooperation and desired results.
  • Performs proper patient identification, acquires patient's clinical history, and assures that the information is accurately documented.
  • Positions patient, equipment, associated devices and manipulates technical factors to achieve desired high-quality images for interpretation.
  • Assesses diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, patient identification, and ensures that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines.
  • Applies principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others.
  • Utilizes Radiology Information System to accurately show arrival and completion of exams, correct coding of procedures done, and retrieval of reports.
  • Utilizes sterile technique for sterile procedures in accordance with OH policy and training. Administers medical aid as required for any emergency.
  • Comprehends and complies with Quality Control standards and participates in all Quality Control tasks.
  • Applies appropriate standard precautions and personal protective equipment to prevent cross-contamination of contagious diseases.
  • Utilizes all Corporate Radiology computer systems effectively and accurately.
  • Ensures safety of all customers.
  • Maintains reasonably regular, punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies, the ADA, FMLA, and other federal, state, and local standards.
  • Maintains compliance with all Orlando Health policies, department guidelines and education requirements.
  • Follows established imaging processing procedures and techniques.
  • Maintains a clean organized work area.
  • Maintains well stocked rooms.

Requirements

  • Graduate of accredited school of Radiologic Technology.
  • Must have and maintain CME points as mandated by MQSA.
  • Valid Florida state license.
  • Valid Radiology registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) certification.
  • BLS/Healthcare Provider certification required.
