The Mammography Technologist is responsible for positioning patients and equipment, manipulating technical factors to achieve high-quality images for interpretation. They must assess diagnostic images for technical quality, proper annotation, and patient identification, ensuring that all breast anatomy is demonstrated according to MQSA/ACR guidelines. The role also involves applying principles of radiation safety to minimize exposure to patients, self, and others, and utilizing the Radiology Information System for accurate exam tracking and reporting. Additionally, the technologist must maintain compliance with Quality Control standards, participate in Quality Control tasks, and apply appropriate standard precautions to prevent cross-contamination.
