The Mammography Technologist performs routine screening and diagnostic mammography examinations to obtain high-quality radiographs. This role involves obtaining images of excellent diagnostic quality to optimally demonstrate anatomy and/or pathology while providing maximum comfort and safety to patients. The Mammography Technologist educates the patient/family about the procedure as well as provides pre and post-procedure instructions. Additionally, the Technologist takes measures to provide and care for the patient's safety and properly utilizes procedure-related patient care/support devices appropriate for the age of the patient. The role also includes alerting the Supervisor and/or appropriate staff of potential problems or equipment malfunctions, maintaining a relaxed environment to calm anxious patients, performing special procedures, assisting with quality control testing, and ordering of supplies. The Mammography Technologist offers guidance to less experienced staff and performs other duties as assigned.
