About the position

The Mammography Technologist at Kaiser Permanente will be responsible for performing a variety of mammography procedures in a safe and efficient manner. This role involves reviewing and transmitting images and reports to the appropriate physicians, ensuring that all patient care is conducted with the utmost professionalism and adherence to ethical standards. The Mammography Technologist will document patient assessments and histories, provide patient education, and apply the profession's code of ethics in all aspects of practice. It is essential for the technologist to be competent in all relevant skills for a Mammographer and to comply with all governing regulations. In addition, the technologist will escalate any unusual situations to the supervisor in a timely manner and troubleshoot equipment concerns, which may include engaging service vendors for repairs. Maintaining clean and stocked exam rooms and work areas is also part of the responsibilities, along with other duties as assigned. The position requires a collaborative and team-oriented work style, with a strong clinical knowledge base and judgment, preferably in an ambulatory care setting. The Mammography Technologist must be able to analyze, integrate, and utilize quantitative data and information for making informed business decisions and problem-solving. A good understanding of Kaiser Permanente's core values and service model is crucial, as is the demonstration of good judgment, organizational skills, and professionalism. Knowledge of environmental health and safety (EH&S), Occupational Safety and Health Administration (OSHA) regulations, Mammography Quality Standards Act (MQSA), American College of Radiology (ACR) guidelines, and radiation safety and protection is also required. Proficiency in Microsoft Office and the ability to complete patient documentation effectively are essential for this role.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • Minimum one (1) year as a Mammographer.
  • High School Diploma or General Education Development (GED) required.
  • American Registry of Radiologic Technologists Certificate - Mammography Technologist required.
  • Radiologic Technologist Certification required.
  • Basic Life Support certification required at hire.
  • Demonstrated collaborative/team-oriented work style.
  • Demonstrated strong clinical knowledge base and judgment, preferably in an ambulatory care setting.
  • Ability to analyze, integrate, and use quantitative data/information in making business decisions and problem-solving.
  • Understanding of Kaiser Permanente's core values and service model.
  • Demonstration of good judgment, organizational skills, and professionalism.
  • General knowledge of EH&S, OSHA, MQSA, ACR, Radiation Safety and Protection.
  • General knowledge of policies and procedures for the delivery of healthcare services.
  • Computer skills, including Microsoft Office.
  • Registration in multiple disciplines.
  • Completion of a Customer Service Assessment.
  • Customer service aptitude demonstrated through Customer Service Assessment.
  • Ability to complete patient documentation (written/electronic) to effectively communicate with the interpreting physician.
  • Ability to work effectively within the role independently and with other team members.
  • Understands and uses correct exposure factors, compression, and angulation to produce quality images.
  • ARRT Pocket card required.
  • Documentation of 40 hours of mammography training if training was done after 4/28/1999, or signed and filled out Attestation forms for mammography if training was done before 4/28/1999.
  • Proof of 200 Mammograms done in the last 2 years, on facility letterhead with signature of certifying official.
  • Proof of 15 mammography specific (Category A) continuing education units completed within the last 36 months.

Nice-to-haves

  • Two (2) years as a Radiologic tech.
