About the position

The Management Analyst 1 position at the Marion County Sheriff's Office is focused on providing professional management support to enhance departmental operations. This role involves program development, budget analysis, and administrative operations, with a strong emphasis on addressing the needs of individuals affected by substance use disorders and mental health issues. The position is grant-funded, and continued employment is contingent upon the availability of funding.

Responsibilities

  • Perform a variety of professional management assignments of a department-wide scope, including analysis of fiscal, administrative, and operational activities.
  • Conduct and coordinate varied and complex management improvement studies and make recommendations to department head and management.
  • Consult with the department head and management in recommending and establishing policies concerning the department.
  • Administer special departmental programs of limited scope.
  • Study departmental records management and control; make recommendations to management team.
  • Assist in conducting departmental evaluation studies of specific agency programs and present results orally and in written reports.
  • Prepare, negotiate, administer and monitor contractual services agreements; serve as liaison with service providers.
  • Oversee administrative projects; facilitate agreements with project participants regarding assignments and ensure completion of work within agreed upon timelines.
  • Conduct surveys, studies and investigations; prepare recommendations for proposed changes including their estimated fiscal and organizational impact.
  • Interpret pertinent laws and governmental and departmental regulations to the public in person and through correspondence; resolve difficult public relations problems.
  • Represent the department at meetings with other agencies and the public at various sites.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in public or business administration, accounting or a related field.
  • Two years of responsible experience which includes independent research, design and methodology, and management analysis.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in public administration or local government financial practices.
  • Knowledge of statistical analysis and data collection methods.
