About the position

The Management Analyst 3 - Data Analyst position at the Minnesota Department of Corrections serves as a lead role in managing and analyzing data related to Field Services business applications and information systems. This position involves advanced professional and technical work in business intelligence, data quality assurance, and information management systems, while also providing mentorship and support to data administration staff. The role is crucial for improving data quality and ensuring the integrity of information systems used within the department.

Responsibilities

  • Assist Field Services Managers and Corrections Program Director in coordinating and planning business applications and information systems.
  • Perform advanced data analysis and ensure data quality assurance.
  • Provide lead work, direction, mentoring, and training to CSTS Data admin positions.
  • Evaluate and maintain data repositories and information management systems.
  • Utilize data analysis and modeling tools to derive insights from complex data sets.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience in data querying, preparation, evaluation, and analysis.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications for word processing and report preparation.
  • Demonstrated skill in using spreadsheet software, particularly Microsoft Excel.
  • Database management skills, including querying and reporting using SQL, Access, and PowerBI.
  • Ability to articulate errors and ensure data integrity.

Nice-to-haves

  • Advanced understanding of data security principles and best practices.
  • Experience with scripting and programming for task automation and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of software development lifecycle and compliance standards.
  • Experience leading application business improvement projects.
