About the position

The Management Analyst - Resource and Analytics position at Palmdale Water District involves performing technical administrative duties to support various departments. The role includes data collection, analysis, and report preparation, as well as providing administrative support to department heads. The analyst will also oversee energy programs, ensure compliance with regulations, and assist in budget development and monitoring.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to requests for documentation related to assigned area of responsibility.
  • Perform technical and paraprofessional duties related to area of assignment including interpreting, analyzing, and determining compliance or acceptance of information and materials.
  • Review, verify, and process documents related to department activities including budgets, contracts, grants, and claims.
  • Track, plan, and oversee an energy program.
  • Prepare various reports on operations and activities of assigned departments.
  • Provide or coordinate staff training.
  • Coordinate with District regulators regarding scheduled maintenance and with other utilities about energy needs and programs.
  • Answer questions and provide information to the public; investigate complaints and recommend corrective action as necessary.
  • Assist professional staff in conducting studies, special projects, and administrative functions; perform data collection and analysis.
  • Ensure areas of responsibilities are in compliance with related laws, codes, ordinances, and legislation.
  • Establish and maintain filing and reporting systems; develop record-keeping procedures.
  • Compile and develop information for special studies and reports from various resources.
  • Assist with maintenance and implementation of new software technologies and systems.
  • Assist supervisor with various administrative operations and prepare or recommend procedural modifications.
  • Coordinate and assist in the development and administration of a department or division budget; prepare budget reports and monitor expenditures.

Requirements

  • Five years of responsible administrative support or technical experience, preferably in the subject area to which assigned.
  • One year of lead supervisory experience is highly desirable.
  • Equivalent to a bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major course work in accounting, finance, business administration, public administration, or a related field.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in governmental utility services.
  • Advanced knowledge of Excel spreadsheets.
