About the position

The Management and Communications Specialist position at the Department of Defense is a pivotal role that serves as the focal point for the delivery of strategic communications and support to the DLA Energy Command staff. This position is essential for facilitating engagements and decision-making processes with Department of Defense (DoD) leaders and stakeholders. The specialist will be responsible for presenting high-level briefings, communications, and products that support critical and time-sensitive customer and supplier matters. This role requires a strong ability to plan and integrate material received from disparate sources within and outside of DLA Energy, ensuring that presentations to DLA leaders and stakeholders are coherent and impactful. In this capacity, the Management and Communications Specialist will be tasked with responding to senior leadership with carefully researched, integrated, and coordinated information that directly contributes to DLA strategies. The position demands a high level of expertise in communication strategies, program planning, and evaluation, as well as the ability to analyze and synthesize complex information into actionable insights. The successful candidate will work closely with various teams to ensure that all communications align with the strategic goals of the organization and effectively address the needs of stakeholders. The role is full-time and based in Fort Belvoir, VA, with a salary range of $99,200 to $128,956 per year. The position is classified under the GS-12 pay scale and does not have promotion potential. While the job is not remote, it does allow for telework as determined by agency policy, requiring at least 60% in-office time during the week. Travel requirements for this position are expected to be 25% or less, indicating that occasional travel may be necessary for meetings or engagements.

Responsibilities

Requirements

  • One year of specialized experience equivalent to the GS-11 level in the Federal service or equivalent in the private sector.
  • Experience creating and presenting briefings to organizational leadership and stakeholders on agency programs or policies.
  • Ability to use qualitative and quantitative evaluation methods to analyze program milestones and initiatives.
  • Research experience related to regulations, policies, and precedents affecting logistics systems and programs.
