About the position

The City of Anaheim is seeking a Management Auditor I or II to conduct various professional internal audits, including contract compliance, operational, performance, and hotel operator audits related to Transient Occupancy Tax Code compliance. The role requires a Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field, along with relevant auditing experience. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work both independently and collaboratively.

Responsibilities

• Establish project objectives and scope of work for conducting financial, operational, and contract compliance audits.
• Perform internal audits to determine legal and financial compliance, and operational and program efficiency and effectiveness.
• Examine accounts and reports to determine compliance with applicable ordinances, regulations, and contracts.
• Prepare and present formal written audit reports including findings and recommendations for the correction of deficient operations, procedures, and practices.
• Conduct audits of various City departments, programs, and systems to determine effectiveness and ensure appropriate controls are in place.

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with major coursework in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field.
• One year of responsible auditing experience for Management Auditor I or two years for Management Auditor II.
• Desirable CPA or CIA certification for Management Auditor I and required for Management Auditor II.

Nice-to-haves

• Prior local government or public sector internal auditing experience.
