About the position

This position provides a unique opportunity to build skills in program evaluation while also touching a diverse portfolio of multi-year projects from a myriad of funding agencies. The skills developed in this role include evaluation design and management, technical writing, statistical analysis, building collaborative relationships in a team-based research setting, and data visualization and presentation. Under administrative direction, the Management Research Analyst coordinates evaluation activities for a portfolio of over 10 projects from diverse funding agencies and with diverse client needs. The majority of projects are small, but can range in size from 10 to 800 participants. Evaluation activities consist of using behavioral and social science research methods to collect and organize data, analyze and synthesize data using qualitative and quantitative approaches, build and manage collaborative relationships with a diverse group of internal and external research personnel, and write reports and give presentations to communicate evaluation findings, including conclusions regarding project success in meeting stated objectives and recommendations for project improvement. Additional activities include liaising with client leadership, developing logic models and evaluation research plans, and tracking project budget, tasks, and progress.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborates on grant-sponsored program evaluation projects in a team-based setting, frequently taking the lead in developing and implementing evaluation plans and activities.
  • Manages all aspects of the evaluation process, including setting tasks, scheduling, coordinating and building relationships with team members and internal/external constituents.
  • Selects, develops, and/or recommends appropriate evaluation design methodologies, data collection protocols, and data analyses.
  • Designs, manages and conducts data collection including surveys, interviews, focus groups, observations, etc.
  • Performs analysis, synthesis, and interpretation of quantitative and qualitative data using appropriate protocols, methods, and analytical/problem-solving skills.
  • Uses database (Airtable etc.), spreadsheet (Excel, Google Sheets), statistical (SPSS etc.) and visualization (Tableau etc.) software to clean, manage and describe evaluation data.
  • Prepares a variety of narrative and statistical reports for various audiences, including preparing tables, graphs and other data visualizations; generating conclusions regarding program success in meeting objectives; and sharing recommendations for program improvement.
  • Prepares and delivers presentations to various audiences.
  • Monitors evaluation expenditures ensuring adherence to budget and program objectives.
  • Prepares and submits studies for Institutional Review Board review.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field AND three years of experience in research, information analysis or program evaluation; OR, Master's degree in a related field AND one year of experience in research, information analysis or program evaluation; OR, Any equivalent combination of education and/or experience from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
  • Evidence of a Master's degree in a related field AND two years of experience in research or program evaluation OR Earned doctorate in related field (e.g., social science, education) with research and evaluation emphasis preferred.
  • Experience with multiple phases of the social science research process (e.g., instrument and protocol design, qualitative and quantitative data collection, data management, data processing, and data analyses).
  • Experience with mixed method evaluation design and analysis of mixed methods data.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, timelines, and responsibilities.
  • Experience working successfully in collaborative research teams.
  • Demonstrated evidence of computer skills, such as office productivity and collaboration software (e.g., Excel, Word, Google Docs suite, Kanban organizers like ClickUp), relational databases (e.g., Access, Airtable), and data analysis (e.g., SPSS, R).
  • Evidence of effective oral and written communication skills.
  • Experience in using research writing, reporting and presentation skills.
  • Familiarity with the IRB approval process and experience developing IRB applications.
  • Evidence of current CITI certification.
