About the position

XTRA Lease helps driven entry-level professionals start their career on a path toward growth. As the nation's leader in semi-trailer renting and leasing, our Management Trainee position will teach you the ins-and-outs of managing a rental facility within the national supply chain, all while growing your skills in customer service, fleet management, vendor relations, invoicing, business leadership, and more. Over the course of 1-3 years, you'll work alongside experienced business operations and sales managers who will mentor and coach you as you hone your skills. A typical day as a Management Trainee may include serving customers like PepsiCo and FedEx, inspecting trailers, managing customer accounts, and using technology for operational tasks. You will also have occasional paid travel to other branches and the Corporate Headquarters for training and evaluation.

Responsibilities

  • Serve customers like PepsiCo and FedEx by determining their equipment needs and explaining trailer-rental options.
  • Inspect trailers for damage or equipment problems using a hand-held device.
  • Manage customer accounts, including credit and collections assistance.
  • Verify customer insurance coverage.
  • Assign repair work to vendors and XTRA Lease trailer mechanics.
  • Use technology to perform inventories and manage equipment.
  • Occasional paid travel to other XTRA Lease branches and Corporate Headquarters for training and evaluation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree (strongly preferred) or 4 years of equivalent relevant experience in customer-facing rental operations or outside sales positions.
  • 1-2 years of Customer Service experience or 1-2 years of Sales Representative/Business Development experience.
  • Willingness to relocate out-of-state to another of our 50 nationwide facilities upon promotion into an Operations or Sales position.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States without requiring work authorization sponsorship now or in the future.
  • Self-starter, highly motivated, critical-thinking, and conscientious.
  • Strong customer service skills, including the ability to handle complaints and resolve issues.
  • Management and leadership qualities, including the ability to train and develop lower-level employees.
