About the position

This position is located at 4-H Camp Palmer in Fulton County, Ohio, and is responsible for the overall administration of the camp. The Manager of Business Operations will promote a positive atmosphere at the camp and provide technical assistance in resident camping and facility operations. This role involves managing and supervising both full-time and seasonal staff, ensuring that operations are conducted in accordance with the mission, policies, and goals set forth by the 4-H Camp Palmer Board of Trustees. The manager will serve collaboratively and foster healthy relationships with the eleven counties of Northwest Ohio, ensuring that the camp operates and maintains compliance with American Camp Association (ACA) and Ohio State University (OSU) standards. In addition to overseeing daily operations, the manager will be responsible for managing all capital improvement projects and establishing annual fundraising goals. Actively fundraising will be a key component of this role, as will providing direction to develop a positive revenue stream for the camp. The manager will work cooperatively with the board to develop and implement long-range plans, risk management strategies, marketing initiatives, budget preparation, and evaluation of services. Financial management is also a critical aspect of this position, which includes overseeing income, disbursements, payroll, establishing fees, investing funds, implementing control procedures, and preparing and presenting financial reports for the camp. The manager will focus on developing strong public relations and maintaining positive working relationships with current groups and potential customers. This position supervises and works collaboratively with the Program Specialist to ensure the success of the camp's operations and programs.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the overall administration of 4-H Camp Palmer.
  • Promote a positive atmosphere at the camp.
  • Provide technical assistance in resident camping and facility operations.
  • Manage and supervise full-time and seasonal staff.
  • Conduct operations in accordance with the mission, policies, and goals of the 4-H Camp Palmer Board of Trustees.
  • Foster healthy relationships with the eleven counties of Northwest Ohio.
  • Operate and maintain the camp under ACA and OSU standards.
  • Manage all capital improvement projects.
  • Establish annual fundraising goals and actively fundraise.
  • Develop a positive revenue stream for the camp.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 3 years of relevant experience required.
  • 4-8 years of relevant experience preferred.
