About the position

The Manager, Accounting (Cars & Parts) at Mercedes-Benz USA is responsible for overseeing various accounting activities related to vehicle, parts, warranty, duty drawback, and overhead accounting. This role involves ensuring compliance, maintaining financial control, and implementing process improvements while supervising a team of financial analysts. The position requires collaboration with external auditors and the Shared Services organization to ensure accurate financial reporting and adherence to internal controls.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise all vehicle, parts, warranty, duty drawback, overhead and warranty accounting processes to ensure compliance and data integrity.
  • Ensure timely completion of all financial closings, update standard pricing tables, monthly forecasting, and planning cycles.
  • Provide frequent P&L reports, ad hoc analysis, explanations, and commentaries to various business partners.
  • Monitor and confirm financial condition by coordinating discussions, submissions, and explanations with external auditors regarding financial results and established reserves.
  • Ensure all assigned accounts are adequately analyzed and reviewed prior to the close of the audit and all analyses tie to the general ledger account balances.
  • Ensure that all management letter responses are addressed in accordance with assigned deadlines as defined in the action plan.
  • Calculate and evaluate financial statement reserves for IAS2, dealer reserve and performance bonuses, parts right of return, goodwill, LLBB reserve.
  • Supervise three financial analysts in other general accounting functions including journal entry preparation, account analyses, cash flow forecasting, and Internal Control System (ICS) testing.
  • Supervise the analyses and maintenance of various general ledger and subsidiary accounts and records.
  • Coordinate and assist in PwC quarterly reviews and the annual financial statement audit. Provide PBCs to PwC.
  • Respond to frequent DAG questions and requests for additional analyses in a timely and professional manner.
  • Work with the Shared Services organization on issue resolution.
  • Monitor, interpret, evaluate, and implement accounting pronouncements of the IAS.
  • Ensure ICS compliance with all documentation design and effectiveness testing requirements by assigned deadlines.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited school.
  • 5 - 7 years of experience in accounting with comprehensive knowledge of internal controls, recording and reporting of financial transactions.
  • Knowledge of fundamental business practices and concepts that impact the success and profitability of the organization.
  • Understanding of key financial indicators and controls and assessing the impact of financial information.
