About the position

The position involves managing the development, interpretation, and administration of financial plans and policies within Parkland Health and Hospital System. The role is crucial for ensuring fiscal soundness and effective operations, focusing on the preparation and analysis of financial reports to support the organization's mission of health and well-being for the community.

Responsibilities

  • Reviews general ledger transactions and journal entries for compliance with FASB and GAAP standards.
  • Prepares complete monthly financial statements and assists with narratives for the Parkland Foundation.
  • Develops and coordinates the annual fiscal budget for Parkland Foundation in alignment with Parkland's budget process.
  • Coordinates and ensures timely completion of annual external and internal audits, including supporting schedules and narratives.
  • Supervises maintenance of project and endowment transactions to ensure proper stewardship of funds.
  • Coordinates with the Treasury Department to request cash infusions for positive operating cash flow.
  • Reviews and approves reconciliations prepared by accounting staff, ensuring timely resolution of discrepancies.
  • Participates in information exchanges with Foundation leadership and other staff to support departmental goals.
  • Develops and monitors annual budgets for the department to ensure necessary funding for established goals.
  • Implements and revises annual goals and objectives for the department in support of Parkland's mission.
  • Selects, trains, schedules, motivates, supervises, and evaluates employees, recommending disciplinary actions as necessary.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Accounting, Finance, or related field.
  • Minimum of seven years of progressive experience in financial accounting, with three years in a not-for-profit organization.
  • Four years of management experience.
  • Certified Public Accountant preferred.
  • Excellent management, administrative, and supervisory skills.
  • Superior oral and written communication skills, with the ability to relate effectively to diverse groups.
  • Expertise in financial, GAAP, and FASB accounting principles and practices.
  • Excellent analytical skills and proficiency in accounting software, spreadsheets, word processing, and PowerPoint.

Nice-to-haves
