About the position

The Accounting Manager at NorthBay Healthcare is responsible for preparing consolidated financial statements and managing the monthly and annual financial closing process for multiple entities. This role involves direct supervision of accounting and accounts payable staff, ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements, and implementing policies and procedures. The position requires effective communication and financial leadership to support senior management and align with the organization's goals and values.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare consolidated financial statements for multiple entities.
  • Manage the monthly and annual financial closing process.
  • Supervise accounting and accounts payable staff.
  • Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements.
  • Evaluate, recommend, and implement policies and procedures within areas of control.
  • Plan and direct operations, ensuring fiscal accountability.
  • Oversee staffing and personnel management.
  • Facilitate effective communications and provide financial leadership.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance or 8 years of Accounting Manager experience required.
  • Five years progressively responsible healthcare finance experience.
  • Three years in a financial management position in a complex healthcare environment or three years in healthcare audit management capacity preferred.
  • Extensive knowledge of hospital accounting and reimbursement principles.
  • Experience with hospital information systems implementations preferred.
  • Experience in Fund Accounting preferred.
  • Proactive participation in planning and ability to manage details in an organized work style.
  • Highly organized with effective planning and coordination skills.
  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office, especially Excel.
  • Five plus years of hospital general ledger experience with major ERP software.
  • Demonstrated working knowledge of computerized general ledger systems, budget software, and cost accounting applications.
  • Knowledge of GAAP, OSHPD, and laws governing healthcare providers.
  • Ability to work in a dynamic team environment and share accountability for team outcomes.
  • Effective time management and ability to balance workload and meet deadlines.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with check writing and document imaging software.
  • Understanding of Managed Care Reimbursements, Accounts Receivable valuation, IBNR calculations, and discounted cash flow techniques.
