About the position

As an Accounting Services Manager at Canyon Pipeline Construction, Inc., you will play a pivotal role in ensuring compliance and fostering a productive work environment for the accounting and administrative teams. Your primary responsibility will be to manage internal controls while collaborating closely with operations and administration teams. This position requires a proactive approach to developing talent within the accounting and administrative staff, ensuring that they are equipped to meet the demands of their roles effectively. In this role, you will oversee the daily operations of the accounting and administration team, providing guidance and support to ensure that all accounting responsibilities are met. This includes managing accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, customer work management, job costing, and inventory. You will also be responsible for the accurate recording and recognition of revenue, implementing process improvements, and assisting with contract bid preparations. Your expertise will be crucial in creating contracts and projects within the ERP system and managing the bid to contract process within the CRM. Communication will be key in this position, as you will need to ensure that there is a seamless flow of information between area operations and the corporate office to fulfill inquiries and requests. You will also be tasked with providing financial reports and analysis to area and corporate leadership, highlighting project performance variances on a regular basis. Additionally, you will oversee the staffing needs of the accounting and administrative teams, ensuring that all internal and external audit requests are satisfied and that SOX compliance is maintained. This role may also involve other responsibilities as requested by leadership, making it a dynamic and engaging position.

Responsibilities

  • Manage the daily guidance and development of the accounting and administration team while supporting the operations team
  • Coordinate, perform, and promote policies, procedures, and internal controls and area specific procedures
  • Provide in-depth accounting support of all accounting responsibilities: accounts receivable, payroll, accounts payable, customer work management, job costing or inventory
  • Ensure accurate recording and recognition of revenue
  • Implement process improvements
  • Help with contract bid preparations
  • Create contracts and projects within ERP system
  • Manage bid to contract process within CRM
  • Understand and ensure execution and compliance to customer contracts
  • Ensure communication between area operations and our corporate office to fulfill inquiries and requests
  • Provide financial reports and analysis to area and corporate leadership including project performance variances on a weekly, bi-weekly, monthly, and quarterly basis or as determined by senior management
  • Oversee the accounting and administrative staffing needs
  • Verify internal consistency, completeness, and mathematical accuracy of accounting documents
  • Ensure internal and external audit requests and inquiries have been satisfied
  • Ensure SOX compliance
  • Perform other responsibilities as requested by leadership

Requirements

  • Bachelors' degree in accounting or related field is required
  • 5 years of accounting, administration, operations, or related experience
  • 3 years of leadership experience in accounting, administration, operations, or related field
