About the position

The Manager, Accounting at T-Mobile plays a crucial role in overseeing and managing the day-to-day accounting and reporting operations within the Record to Report (RTR) team. This position is responsible for implementing new areas within the Finance, Procurement & Supply Chain (FP&SC) Magenta Services group and assisting with process improvements to achieve industry best practices in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and DT policies and procedures. The Manager will lead the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting systems, ensuring that journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, variance analyses, and period close general ledger processes are executed accurately and efficiently. In this role, the Manager will oversee asset transfers, perform impairment tests, and conduct final level reviews of balance sheet and income statement analyses, as well as monthly financial reviews. The position requires designing operational procedures that meet audit standards while improving efficiency. The Manager will monitor financial results through a comprehensive understanding of transactional flows within various operational systems and the ERP system, ensuring accurate financial reporting and completion of external and ad-hoc reports. Additionally, the Manager will be responsible for preparing and reviewing reconciliations for various accounts, acting as a Subject Matter Resource (SMR) to ensure the accuracy of financial results. The role also involves integrating new products and services into accounting records, compiling and analyzing accounting data, and developing personnel to ensure efficient operations. Participation in quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX control monitoring/testing is also a key aspect of this position. Collaboration with cross-functional teams is essential to solve problems, implement new solutions, and enhance service delivery to the business and customers.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and manage day-to-day accounting and reporting operations.
  • Implement new areas within the Finance, Procurement & Supply Chain (FP&SC) Magenta Services group.
  • Assist with process improvement to achieve industry best practices in accordance with US GAAP, IFRS, and DT policies.
  • Manage the development, implementation, and maintenance of accounting systems.
  • Ensure journal entries, balance sheet reconciliations, and variance analyses are prepared accurately and timely.
  • Conduct final level reviews of balance sheet and income statement analyses, and monthly financial reviews.
  • Design operational procedures that meet audit standards and improve efficiency.
  • Monitor financial results through understanding of transactional flows in operational systems and ERP system.
  • Prepare and review reconciliations for Prepaid, Wholesale/Roaming, Commissions, and Third-Party accounts.
  • Act as an SMR for manual monthly reconciliations to ensure accurate financial results.
  • Integrate new products and services within accounting records.
  • Compile, analyze, and report accounting data accurately.
  • Develop and evaluate personnel to ensure efficient operation of the function.
  • Participate in quarterly reviews, annual audits, and SOX control monitoring/testing.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement new solutions and improve service delivery.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Accounting or Finance.
  • 7-10 years of working experience in accounting.
  • 2 years of leadership experience.
  • Strong leadership skills.
  • Proficient in accounting principles and practices.
