About the position

The Manager Accounting is responsible for overseeing the daily general accounting and Procure to Pay activities within the organization. This role encompasses a variety of critical functions including inventory and cost analysis, gross-to-net analysis, management of fixed assets, and ensuring accurate accounts reconciliations. The Manager will also be tasked with financial and management reporting, ensuring that all processes adhere to US GAAP standards, with a preference for candidates who have knowledge of IFRS. A key aspect of this position is the maintenance of internal controls to safeguard the integrity of financial data. In addition to these responsibilities, the Manager Accounting will lead and guide a team of offshore Procure to Pay Analysts and Staff Accountants in their general accounting activities. This includes reviewing and posting journal entries, as well as assisting with data collection, analysis, and documentation to ensure compliance with Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) and audit requirements. The Manager will be expected to ensure the timely and accurate completion of monthly and quarterly account reconciliations and the Financial Reporting Package. The role also involves performing financial analysis, which includes researching and explaining fluctuations in inventory, Cost of Goods Sold (COGS), reserves, sales, expenses, and other key balance sheet and profit and loss accounts. The Manager will coordinate and assist with both internal and external audit requirements, including the preparation of financials and analytical reporting. Additionally, the Manager will assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts, including headcount, payroll, and finance budgets, and will participate in special projects and perform ad-hoc analysis as directed.

Responsibilities

  • Manage daily general accounting and Procure to Pay activities.
  • Conduct inventory and cost analysis, including gross-to-net analysis.
  • Oversee fixed assets and accounts reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with US GAAP and maintain internal controls.
  • Guide offshore PTP Analysts and Staff Accountants in general accounting activities.
  • Review and post journal entries as necessary.
  • Assist with data collection, analysis, and documentation for SOX compliance and audits.
  • Ensure timely and accurate completion of monthly/quarterly account reconciliations and Financial Reporting Package.
  • Perform financial analysis and explain fluctuations in key financial metrics.
  • Coordinate and assist with internal and external audit requirements.
  • Assist in the preparation of budgets and forecasts.
  • Participate in special projects and perform ad-hoc analysis as directed.

Requirements

  • Strong analytical skills and knowledge of business and industry standards.
  • Thorough understanding and application of US GAAP; IFRS knowledge is a plus.
  • Proven track record of success in a collaborative environment.
  • Knowledge of Cost Accounting cycle and Gross-to-Net Accounting experience preferred.
  • Ability to lead change initiatives and process improvements.
  • Self-starter, quick learner, detail-oriented, and able to work under pressure.
  • 5 years of experience in accounting and people management.
  • Experience and/or knowledge of Procure to Pay, intercompany, and shared-service processes.
  • SAP working knowledge is a plus.
  • CPA or CMA certification preferred.
  • Bachelor's degree in accounting or related field or equivalent experience required.
  • System implementation experience would be a plus.
  • Working experience in the pharmaceutical or healthcare industry preferred.
