About the position

The Manager of Accounting at Exelon is responsible for overseeing various accounting functions within the corporate accounting operation and business unit accounting operations. This role involves producing accurate and timely financial statements, supporting business units in financial reporting, and ensuring compliance with accounting standards. The position requires strong leadership and analytical skills to manage financial transactions and reporting processes effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee the corporation's monthly financial statement close process and ensure accurate and timely recording of financial transactions.
  • Prepare, review, or approve account reconciliations for the corporation's entities and accounts.
  • Prepare monthly reporting packages for corporate entities, including analysis of current actual results to prior periods.
  • Support the implementation of changes in Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Assist in the accounting, analysis, and budgeting of various accounts.
  • Consult and liaise with operating unit finance personnel on accounting issues.
  • Cooperate in special projects and requests for the Controller's Group.
  • Interact with internal and external auditors and other departments to accomplish goals.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or general business administration.
  • MBA in Finance, Accounting, or Economics and/or CPA or other financial certification is preferred.
  • 7-10 years of experience in accounting, financial reporting, or related field, preferably in Public Accounting and/or Utility experience.
  • Experience with Financial Statement Consolidations and/or Derivative Accounting is a plus.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Demonstrated supervisory experience.
  • Solid financial, mathematical, and analytical capabilities.
