About the position

L3Harris Technologies is seeking a Manager of Accounting to lead and direct a team of experienced professionals in managing transactional accounting and general ledger activities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the accuracy of financial results and compliance with government regulations. The Manager will be responsible for establishing operational plans that contribute to the overall success of the accounting function, while also implementing systems and policy updates to enhance efficiency and effectiveness. The position requires a strong focus on process improvement, problem-solving, and innovation, as the Manager will need to conduct extensive investigations to understand root causes of issues that may arise within the accounting function. In this role, the Manager will communicate with both internal and external stakeholders to influence changes in policies and practices. They will also provide measurable input on new products and processes that impact the achievement of functional results. While the position typically does not have direct budget or Profit & Loss (P&L) accountability, the Manager may oversee certain projects within a defined budget. The successful candidate will support government compliance during audits and will be responsible for the analytics of data and documentation related to accounting practices. Responsibilities

  • Manage transactional accounting and general ledger accounting staff.
  • Ensure the accuracy of financial results through effective management of general ledger activity.
  • Assist in the implementation of systems and policy/procedure updates and harmonization.
  • Establish operational plans with measurable contributions towards achieving job function results.
  • Provide measurable input on new products, processes, or standards in operational plans that impact overall functional results.
  • Support government compliance in audits and analytics of data and documentation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree and a minimum of 9 years prior related experience, or a Graduate Degree with a minimum of 7 years of prior related experience, or in lieu of a degree, a minimum of 13 years of prior related experience.
  • 7 years or more experience with Costpoint, SAP, Hyperion, and Government Accounting Contracts.
  • 7 years or more experience communicating with leadership regarding important matters, including conducting briefings with senior leaders.
  • 7 years or more experience working both independently and in a collaborative team-oriented environment.
  • Must be a United States Citizen.

  • Governmental Accounting experience preferred.
  • GAAP Compliance knowledge.
  • FPRP/Incurred Cost Claim/Overhead Rate experience preferred.
  • FAR knowledge preferred.
  • General Ledger experience required.
  • Payroll and Accounts Payable Management experience.
  • Government Billing experience.
  • Advanced Excel skills.
