About the position

The Manager of Accounts Payable at Progress Residential is responsible for overseeing the US Accounts Payable Payments team, ensuring accurate and timely processing of payments, and managing department activities. This hybrid role combines in-office and remote work, focusing on compliance, collaboration with other departments, and supporting financial reporting and audits.

Responsibilities

  • Manage day-to-day operations of the AP Payments team, including supervising staff and managing invoice payment processing.
  • Oversee payment processes and collaborate with other departments such as Procurement and Utilities.
  • Ensure compliance functions are properly managed for oversight and controls on disbursements and electronic payments.
  • Oversee month-end and year-end close processes for accounts payable.
  • Support financial reporting teams with analysis and data as appropriate.
  • Assist with audits by providing necessary documentation and support.
  • Assist with ad hoc projects and reporting as necessary.
  • Learn and demonstrate expertise on automated systems and collaborate with Senior Manager and Supervisors for production issues, system enhancements, and process improvements.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years of Accounts Payable experience with a background or education in Accounting.
  • Proven leadership experience with dispersed or global teams.
  • Strong knowledge of accounting principles and practices.
  • Yardi experience preferred.
  • Real Estate/Property Management experience strongly preferred.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to be independent and a self-starter, self-motivated and takes initiative.
  • Ability to multi-task in a high growth and fast-paced environment.
  • Proven problem solving, analytical, troubleshooting, and time-management skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management.
  • Exhibit excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with automated systems in Accounts Payable.
  • Knowledge of compliance regulations in financial processes.
