The Manager, Actuarial and Analytics is an analytic leadership role that encompasses the shared responsibility of project and strategic execution with actuarial, analytic, and business partners, in addition to assigned operational assignments which may include reserving, rate-making, pricing, planning/forecasting, project management, and research. The individual in this role is expected to be an influential member of project teams, providing analytical insights and recommendations to leadership and business unit partners. This position requires specialized knowledge and expertise in one or more areas such as actuarial methods, advanced statistical analyses, and solid business knowledge, particularly in the insurance industry. In this role, the manager will work across various lines of business, playing a lead role in supporting filed rating plans within Business Insurance. Responsibilities include developing and implementing rates, rating plans, and pricing strategies to achieve company objectives for profitability and growth. The position offers exposure to many enterprise disciplines and involves collaboration with various groups across Travelers, including pricing managers, regional and lead business unit actuaries, and compliance areas. The candidate must possess excellent communication, analytical, and problem-solving skills, as well as attention to detail, as they will be responsible for routine projects and leading more complex research or rate plan management initiatives. The role also involves participating in strategic initiatives, developing solutions to challenges, and proposing innovations to improve project performance. The manager will independently perform actuarial and analytic analyses to solve business problems, support unit initiatives, and communicate project results to peers and business partners. Additionally, the manager will be responsible for talent development, including mentoring less experienced team members and onboarding new employees. Overall, this position is critical for driving the success of actuarial and analytic functions within the organization.
