About the position

The Manager of Ambulatory Business Operations is responsible for overseeing staff involved in centralized scheduling, video interpretation, outpatient pre-registration, eligibility verification, and co-pay identification in a call-center environment. This role includes preparing the annual departmental budget, monitoring quality of work, and serving as an ambassador to various supported entities within the UNM Health System. The position requires effective management of departmental operations in accordance with hospital policies, with no direct patient care responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Manage staff performing centralized scheduling and outpatient pre-registration.
  • Prepare and administer the annual departmental budget.
  • Monitor quality of work and implement process improvements as needed.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with patients, visitors, and hospital employees.
  • Ensure quality customer service through training and monitoring staff.
  • Direct and monitor quality assurance programs and update departmental goals.
  • Provide leadership in identifying problems and opportunities for improvement.
  • Communicate user needs to appropriate system vendors and IT personnel.
  • Attend technical and administrative meetings and participate in hospital-wide activities.
  • Recruit, hire, orient, train, and supervise department personnel.
  • Monitor fiscal status and investigate variances in budget reports.
  • Prepare reports on registration error rates and call center performance.
  • Coordinate efforts related to Revenue Cycle Improvement with various departments.
  • Review and update policies and procedures within the scope of the position.
  • Ensure timely documentation and resolution of process issues.
  • Enhance professional growth through attendance at relevant conferences and workshops.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or a related field.
  • 2 years of directly related experience.
