About the position

The Manager, Application Development is responsible for overseeing the success of software solution domains within the NMDP Solution Portfolio. This role involves managing IT Solutions staff in various aspects of software development, including analysis, architecture, design, quality assurance, testing, implementation, and support of both custom and commercial off-the-shelf (COTS) software solutions. The position requires collaboration with operational and IT leaders to assess risks, establish solution roadmaps, and ensure alignment with IT strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Manage IT Solutions staff in the analysis, architecture, design, quality, testing, implementation, and support of software solutions.
  • Serve as the single point of accountability for the success or failure of a given solution domain.
  • Assess and accept technical and operational risks associated with decisions.
  • Establish a solution roadmap and communicate solutions consistent with the IT strategy.
  • Hire, train, supervise, and evaluate the performance of engineering and analytical staff.
  • Coordinate assignments of NMDP resources and resolve operating and development issues.
  • Implement and monitor individual timelines for each Application delivery project.
  • Provide oversight for the Application domain and cross-functional practices as assigned.
  • Report ongoing status to IT Leadership and other stakeholders regarding systems issues.
  • Manage an annual budget and contract negotiations for consulting services.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or Business with an emphasis in Information Technology, or equivalent related experience.
  • Eight years of experience in a programming, engineering, or technical role within a software development environment.
  • Two years of experience in a leadership role within an Information Technology Department.
  • Knowledge of N-tier software development and testing methodologies, service-oriented architecture, and application security.
  • Experience with Oracle Fusion Cloud HCM, Oracle EBS, and Document Management technologies.
  • Familiarity with functional, load, and regression testing frameworks.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience with Federated Architecture and Model Driven Architecture principles.
  • Knowledge of UML, Use Case design, and realization.
  • Experience with unit testing and automated testing principles.
