About the position

The Manager of Applications Development at Texas A&M University-Corpus Christi is responsible for leading a team of application developers to deliver software development projects that align with the university's goals. Responsibilities

  • Supervise and mentor a team of application developers, providing guidance and support.
  • Conduct regular performance feedback and annual reviews for team members.
  • Monitor industry trends and promote a culture of continuous improvement within the development team.
  • Participate in the recruitment process to attract and retain top talent.
  • Promote a collaborative work environment and encourage open communication across the IT department.
  • Oversee the planning, execution, and delivery of software development projects.
  • Implement and manage a hybrid project management approach, blending Waterfall and Agile practices.
  • Allocate resources effectively to ensure timely project completion.
  • Work closely with stakeholders to gather requirements and define project scope.
  • Ensure the highest standards of quality are maintained throughout the development lifecycle.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in applicable field for Level II, III, or IV positions.
  • Five to ten years of related experience depending on the level of the position.
  • Supervisory experience of a Software/Application development team for Level IV.
  • Intermediate skills using Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Teams, Word, etc.).
  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
  • Excellent written communication and organizational skills.

Nice-to-haves

  • Experience in higher education, organizational development, and/or human resources.
  • Knowledge of data integration, SaaS solutions, and enterprise software applications.
  • Familiarity with project management approaches, tools, and phases of the project lifecycle.
  • Experience and knowledge of change management principles and methodologies.
